Algeria strengthens Niger’s army with military equipment donation

In alignment with directives issued by the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, General Saïd Chanegriha, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), has authorized the transfer of a military aid package to Niger’s armed forces.

This strategic donation, announced by the Ministry of National Defense, includes four helicopters alongside essential military equipment. The initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Niger, particularly in defense and security.

Two Mi-24V attack helicopters and two Mi-171 utility helicopters departed today from the secondary deployment base in In Gezzam, located in the 6th Military Region, en route to Niamey’s international airport in Niger. Alongside the aircraft, the transfer includes ammunition, spare parts, maintenance tools, and logistical support equipment, all transported via a military transport plane.

The operation reflects Algeria’s dedication to enhancing regional stability and security. It also highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to foster multilateral partnerships aimed at strengthening defense capabilities and promoting shared expertise across the Sahel region.

This gesture reaffirms Algeria’s unwavering support for neighboring nations in their pursuit of sustainable peace and collective security.
