Bénin unveils PAG 2026-2033 strategic roadmap ahead of september
The finalization of the Government Action Plan (PAG) for the 2026-2033 seven-year term is nearing completion, with an official presentation scheduled for the political rentrée in September.
The upcoming PAG 2026-2033 is designed to build upon existing reforms while introducing fresh priorities across social, economic, and security sectors, according to Wilfried Léandre Houngbédji, spokesperson for the executive branch.
Core objectives shaping the 2026-2033 action plan
The new roadmap centers on three pivotal objectives: eliminating extreme poverty, addressing regional disparities, and strengthening national security. To ensure effective implementation, the government is restructuring its operational framework to enhance public policy efficiency.
Key adjustments include monthly meetings of the Council of Ministers, bi-monthly inter-ministerial committees, and thematic cabinet councils for closer monitoring of progress.
Inclusive governance through regional consultations
Aligned with the country’s commitment to the Open Government Partnership, the finalization of the PAG will incorporate input from citizen consultations conducted across all twelve departments of Bénin.
This participatory approach aims to capture local concerns and align state investments with the specific needs of each region, fostering more inclusive and responsive governance.
