Laurent Gbagbo has reshuffled the leadership of the Ivorian Popular Party for Peace and Progress (PPA-CI), initially hinting at delegating some powers to a single figure but ultimately appointing five high-ranking members to key positions.

Assoa Adou has been named First Vice-President, tasked with ensuring strict adherence to the party’s ideological line.

Hubert Oulaye takes on the role of Second Vice-President, overseeing party affairs and presiding over central committee meetings.

Emmanuel Ackah, former ambassador, has been appointed Third Vice-President, responsible for revitalizing the PPA-CI.

Justin Katinan Koné retains oversight of the party’s general policy.

Sébastien Dano Djédjé has been assigned to lead the Strategic and Political Council, tasked with its supervision.

According to Gbagbo, these changes mark a shift toward a more collegial leadership, emphasizing complementarity in roles and unified action.

Political analyst Abdourahmane Barry cautions against interpreting this reshuffle as a fundamental transformation of the PPA-CI’s governance. He asserts that while the five appointees will manage day-to-day operations, decision-making authority and political direction remain firmly in Laurent Gbagbo’s hands.
