Côte d’Ivoire secures record $80 billion funding for 2026-2030 development plan

Ivorian leader hails unprecedented financial mobilization for national growth

« This success reflects the world’s confidence in Côte d’Ivoire, its economic resilience, and the credibility of our development strategy, » declared President Alassane Ouattara following the conclusion of the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 Consultative Group meetings held in Abidjan on July 8-9, 2026.

More than 2,000 investors from 49 countries attended the high-level forum, representing financial institutions, investment funds, banks, business associations, public and private enterprises, and leading development partners. The gathering demonstrated Côte d’Ivoire’s growing appeal as a prime investment destination in West Africa.

During the two-day event, participants committed a staggering 80 billion US dollars (47,820 billion F CFA) in funding – nearly quadruple the original target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA. This overwhelming response underscores investor confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic trajectory.

Transforming ambition into tangible progress

The PND 2026-2030 outlines a bold vision: « Building a Great Nation that is stable, ambitious, and united. » With a total investment envelope of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately 209 billion US dollars) over five years, the plan places the private sector at the heart of economic transformation, with the sector expected to contribute 70.2% of investments.

Ivorian businesses will play a central role in implementing this ambitious agenda, which focuses on six strategic pillars:

  • Peace, security, and stability – The foundation for all progress
  • Agriculture and agro-industry – Leveraging Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural potential
  • Private sector development and industrialization – Driving job creation and innovation
  • Human capital – Investing in education and skills development
  • Strategic infrastructure – Modernizing transport, energy, and digital networks
  • Good governance and state modernization – Ensuring transparency and efficiency

Economic milestones to achieve by 2030

The plan sets ambitious macroeconomic targets, requiring nationwide mobilization to elevate Côte d’Ivoire to the status of an upper-middle-income country by 2030. Key objectives include raising GDP per capita to $4,500 and reducing poverty below 20%.

President Ouattara emphasized that the state’s role will be to translate financial commitments into concrete benefits for all Ivorians: « More schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, opportunities, and shared prosperity for every man, woman, and child. »

« Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will continue building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and cohesive, » he concluded.
