Côte d’Ivoire’s JOURIE 2026 kicks off with digital education transformation focus
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — The 2026 edition of the Open Days for Research and Innovation in Education (JOURIE) launched today at the École Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d’Économie Appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training (MENAET), the event runs under the banner: “Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for a quality school system.”
The two-day conference, concluding tomorrow, aims to foster a culture of research-driven educational progress. It highlights the integration of scientific findings and technological advancements to enhance Côte d’Ivoire’s educational landscape through digital solutions.
Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategies, Planning, and Statistics (DESPS), emphasized that JOURIE 2026 serves as a critical forum for collective reflection on how scientific research and technological innovation can reshape schools, colleges, high schools, and universities across the nation.
He noted that the event underscores the Ministry’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic research and educational policy-making, ensuring that public decisions are grounded in reliable data and rigorous analysis.
“JOURIE 2026 is an unparalleled opportunity to showcase research findings, exchange experimental insights, explore cutting-edge technological solutions, and address systemic challenges,” Dr. Meité stated. “It brings together researchers, educators, innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders to collaborate on building an inclusive and high-performing education system.”
Reaffirming the government’s vision, he added that digital tools are not merely supplementary resources but strategic drivers for quality, equity, and performance in education. This year’s edition reflects a broader ambition: leveraging science, innovation, and digital technologies to create an accessible, high-quality education system for every learner.
In his opening remarks on behalf of the Minister of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training, Technical Advisor Kouadio Kouman highlighted that JOURIE 2026 aligns with the government’s goal to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices, adhering to international standards.
“The chosen theme underscores a fundamental truth: digital technology is not just an instrument but a powerful catalyst for transformation,” Mr. Kouman said. “It accelerates progress and unlocks opportunities to construct a more equitable, inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian school system.”
He further stressed that the event provides a unique platform for stakeholders—including educators, innovators, public officials, technical partners, and financial backers—to engage in meaningful dialogue about digital education’s role in governance, innovation, training, infrastructure, and inclusion.
