In a strategic move to enhance collaborative leadership, Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire and current head of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), has delegated key presidential powers to five prominent party figures. This decision marks a shift toward a more inclusive and structured governance model within the party.
New leadership roles and responsibilities unveiled
The announcement, outlined in an official PPA-CI communiqué, details the specific roles assigned to each delegate. Assoa Adou has been appointed as the First Vice-President, entrusted with overseeing compliance with the party’s statutes and internal regulations across all organs and members. Meanwhile, Hubert Oulaye takes on the role of Second Vice-President, responsible for party affairs and presiding over meetings of the Central Committee.
Additionally, Dano Djédjé Sébastien has been named President of the Strategic and Political Council, a position with broad authority over the party’s overall direction and operational supervision.
Emphasis on unity and collective leadership
In his statement, Gbagbo underscored the rationale behind this restructuring. He emphasized that the strength of the PPA-CI lies not in the dominance of a single individual but in the synergy of its leadership and the unity of its members. “This delegation of authority reflects our commitment to fostering a more collegial leadership, where responsibilities are shared and actions are aligned towards a unified vision,” he stated.
He further asserted that challenges can only be overcome through collective effort, discipline, and cohesive action. “Together, we can rise to meet every obstacle. Through unity and structured collaboration, the PPA-CI will not only overcome adversity but also serve the people of Côte d’Ivoire with renewed effectiveness,” he added.
