During the meeting focused on Libya, Ambassador Arrouchi stressed that the Skhirat Agreement, signed on December 17, 2015 under United Nations auspices, remains a key framework for reaching a durable settlement. He also underscored the importance of preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Morocco expressed appreciation for the African Union’s efforts to promote peace, security, and stability across the continent, particularly those aimed at a political solution to the Libyan crisis.

Arrouchi further recalled the meetings held in Tripoli and Zenten, which led to the signing of an agreement on January 7, 2026 in the Libyan capital between representatives of the Government of National Unity and the administration of eastern Libya.

He highlighted Morocco’s role in supporting the political process by fostering rapprochement among Libyan parties. According to him, these initiatives align with international law, the conclusions of the Skhirat Agreement, and the Bouznika understandings. The kingdom reiterated the need to continue pursuing a political settlement, rejecting military options.
