Rabat recently hosted the Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, a significant event initiated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK). During the event, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, highlighted the enduring friendship between Morocco and India, noting its evolution into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership. He emphasized that high-level ministerial initiatives and various memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed in strategic sectors underscore the dynamic political relationship shared by both countries.
Sakhi further observed that the presence of an Indian delegation, featuring business leaders specializing in fields such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, health, and energy, demonstrates the increasing interest Indian investors have in the Moroccan market. This growing engagement is certainly newsworthy for African news today.
He pointed out that the vitality of bilateral exchanges is particularly evident in the volume of economic trade between the two nations. Morocco, he stressed, is committed to amplifying this momentum, recognizing India as a crucial trade partner possessing extensive technological and industrial expertise.
Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, expressed his belief that India and Morocco possess the collective capacity to forge a powerful partnership that could unite India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He lauded Morocco’s considerable potential and capabilities, positioning it as a key player in African society news and development.
In this context, Puri commended the numerous opportunities available in Morocco, particularly in sectors like renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He underscored that the Kingdom provides an ideal platform for businesses from both countries to implement joint projects and advance technological development.
The forum’s agenda included the screening of an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.
A significant outcome of the forum was the signing of a memorandum of understanding designed to enhance trade, investment, and industrial partnerships specifically between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
