Recently, a joint security commission launched an extensive sweep across various areas identified as high-crime zones within N’Djamena. This large-scale intervention, which saw the mobilization of numerous law enforcement agencies and specialized security units—including the National and Nomadic Guard of Chad (GNNT), the National Gendarmerie, the National Police, and the Judicial Police—resulted in the questioning and subsequent arrest of 252 individuals. Authorities also confiscated a range of illicit items and substances during the operation.

The operation strategically targeted several key sectors known for criminal activity, including Mandjakoli in the 5th district, along with Roma, Bildo, and Katanga in the 2nd district. Furthermore, areas like Colombie and other identified neighborhoods across the capital were also subjected to thorough checks.

According to Hachim Haroum Deby, the Director of Public Security, the sweep led to the apprehension of numerous individuals involved in both the sale and consumption of various narcotics. Among the seized illicit products were drugs commonly referred to as “Colorado” and “Bongo,” alongside quantities of adulterated alcohol.

This critical mission unfolded under the direct supervision of the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, who also serves as the Deputy President of the Joint Control and Verification Commission. Key participants in the operation also included the 1st Deputy Police Controller General and the 2nd Deputy Commander of the National and Nomadic Guard of Chad (GNNT).

Following the extensive intervention, a total of 252 individuals were presented to the press. Security forces showcased a significant haul of confiscated items, which included various weapons, computers, mobile phones, and 25 motorcycles.

The comprehensive results of this operation were subsequently presented to General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, the Minister of Public Security and Immigration.

This successful anti-crime initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts by internal security forces to enhance citizen safety, uphold public order, and vigorously combat all manifestations of criminality. Specifically, it targets the pervasive issue of illicit substance trafficking and consumption plaguing the capital.
