Tivaouane : Devant Ousmane Sonko, Serigne Habib Sy adhère au Pastef

Serigne Habib Sy has officially declared his allegiance to Pastef, a significant move announced during his recent meeting with Ousmane Sonko in Diaksao. This public endorsement includes his firm intention to acquire a party membership card, solidifying his support for the political movement led by Sonko.

Ahead of the upcoming Mawlid celebration in Tivaouane, Ousmane Sonko, who serves as the President of the National Assembly and is the prominent leader of Pastef, undertook a visit to Diaksao. This visit was part of his customary engagements with influential religious figures. During this occasion, he was hosted by Serigne Habib Sy, who seized the opportunity to openly affirm his affiliation with the current ruling party.

Directly addressing his distinguished guest, the esteemed religious guide unequivocally articulated his desire to formalize his membership with Pastef. “I am a committed member of Pastef. I plan to purchase a membership card very soon. However, I am currently unaware of the process to join through the online platform,” Serigne Habib Sy stated. In response, Ousmane Sonko promptly pledged his assistance to streamline the process. “I will personally deliver your membership card to you,” the Pastef leader assured him.

This public declaration by Serigne Habib Sy is consistent with his history of civic involvement. Notably, the son of the late Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh had previously aligned himself with the “Y en a marre” movement in February 2021. Years later, he now publicly demonstrates his solidarity with Pastef, signaling his clear intent to formalize his integration into the party.
