During the discussions, representatives of the movement outlined their organizational journey over the past six years and presented their vision for resolving the conflict. They also addressed inquiries from the U.S. delegation regarding the current status of the Western Sahara dossier.

The leaders emphasized the importance of integrating “Sahrawis for Peace” into the United Nations-sponsored negotiation process, arguing that the movement represents a legitimate framework for voices advocating a peaceful political solution. They stressed that any sustainable resolution must include all factions and active components of Sahrawi society.

The U.S. political counselor acknowledged the movement’s efforts, describing “Sahrawis for Peace” as a dynamic Sahrawi voice committed to negotiated solutions. The diplomat reaffirmed Washington’s backing for initiatives that support regional stability and security, while highlighting the need to overcome the confrontational dynamics that have stalled diplomatic progress in recent years.

This meeting follows a prior interaction in New York, where a delegation from the movement met with U.S., French, and U.K. ambassadors to the United Nations. It also precedes the upcoming United Nations Security Council session, which will review the implementation of Resolution 2797. The resolution has garnered broad international consensus in favor of advancing a political and peaceful solution to the Western Sahara question.
