Reports from Spain consistently highlight Paris Saint-Germain’s strong interest in securing Julian Alvarez this summer. This potential transfer is proving complex, primarily due to the substantial asking price set by Atlético de Madrid and the keen competition from FC Barcelona. However, a specific nuance could ultimately tip the scales in favor of the Parisian club for the Argentine forward.

Following an exceptionally demanding season, further intensified by the recent World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain is actively seeking to revitalize its squad during the upcoming summer transfer window. The capital club has already initiated discussions on several prospective targets, with Julian Alvarez emerging as a prominent name. Alvarez, who joined Atlético de Madrid in 2024, may be on the verge of departing the Colchoneros this summer, yet Paris faces considerable competition for his signature.
Julian Alvarez: a move to PSG favoured over Barcelona?
Fresh insights surfaced this Thursday concerning the pursuit of Julian Alvarez. Beyond speculating on a potential €100M offer from PSG, it is understood that Atlético de Madrid holds a strong preference against selling their player to a direct rival, should they be compelled to part ways with him this summer. This stance significantly diminishes FC Barcelona‘s prospects, despite their clear interest, effectively granting Paris a strategic advantage. The ultimate decision, however, rests with the world champion, who has yet to publicly declare his intentions regarding his future.
“We haven’t moved an inch” on transfers
Following Wednesday evening’s triumph over RC Lens, Luis Campos addressed PSG‘s transfer strategy. The Sporting Director for the capital club clarified that no transfer decisions would be finalized before the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30. Campos explained, “Regarding transfers, it’s a decision we made with our coach and the president: our transfer activity has been completely paused for several weeks. We are well aware of our upcoming targets, but we haven’t moved an inch on the transfer market. The names currently circulating are purely speculative. Our ambition is to arrive on May 30th highly motivated, with everyone fully focused on that. We aim to do everything possible to maintain our positive momentum. I’ve been told that a victory in the final could be historic for everyone. Our intention is to reach the final in peak form, and then we’ll assess, but for now, we haven’t moved an inch.”
