Senegalese former Prime Minister Abdourahmane Diouf has revealed that Ousmane Sonko, the current leader of Senegal, asked for a financial increase after spending $1.77 billion from his budget. The revelation comes amid a controversy over Sonko’s handling of funds allocated to the presidency.
Diouf pointed out that Sonko had initially claimed to have $1.77 billion in funds per quarter, but later requested an increase after using up this amount.
Diouf also expressed his support for President Diomaye’s decision to publicly declare the existence and use of these funds, which he believes marks a significant shift towards transparency in government spending.
