Bénin extends registration deadline for national order of civil engineers

The Ministry of Living Environment and Transport has announced a significant update for the engineering sector in Bénin. Civil engineers across the nation and those residing abroad now have additional time to formalize their status with the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin. This administrative decision provides a 30-day window for professionals to complete their registration via the designated digital platform.

Georges Alé : Ministre du Cadre de vie et des Transports, chargé du développement durable

Minister Georges Alé confirmed the extension, citing the regulatory framework established by the 2021 decree concerning the organization of the civil engineering profession. This move is designed to ensure that the inaugural Roll of the Order is comprehensive and inclusive of all qualified practitioners operating within the country’s borders or internationally.

Eligibility and professional categories

The census is open to all Béninois civil engineers. To qualify for inclusion in the official Tableau, applicants must hold a design engineering degree, a professional master’s degree recognized by the State and CAMES, or an equivalent accredited qualification. The registration drive encompasses a wide range of technical fields, including:

  • Public works and building construction
  • Geotechnics and transport infrastructure
  • Hydraulics and energy systems
  • Sanitation and environmental engineering
  • Electronics, information technology, and telecommunications

Qualified professionals are urged to utilize the official online portal to submit their documentation within the new timeframe. The 30-day grace period is effective from the date the ministerial communiqué was finalized. This administrative step is essential for the formal establishment of the professional body, ensuring that engineering standards are strictly regulated and maintained throughout Bénin.
