The École nationale supérieure de police in Porto-Novo hosted a significant ceremony on Wednesday, May 14, 2026, marking the official start of preparatory training for the Higher Security Studies Certificate (Bess), the Security Forces Staff Diploma (Demes), and the Special Staff Diploma for security forces.
Strengthening Benin’s internal security capabilities
This academic session represents a pivotal moment in enhancing the expertise of the Bénin internal security apparatus. Held under the patronage of Inspector General Kokou Brice Allowanou, Director General of the Republican Police, the event brought together military officers, political administrators, high-ranking police officials, and members of the academic community.
The Director of the École nationale supérieure de police, Police Commissioner Gilles Yekpe, outlined the core objectives of these programs. The curriculum is designed to equip trainees for high-level leadership roles within the security sector. He stressed the importance of fostering a strategic perspective on security issues at national, regional, and international levels.
A comprehensive curriculum for future leaders
