Benin’s online tax platform reaches Parakou, Comè and Lokossa: the real-world impact on taxpayers and small businesses

Starting 21 September 2026, partner taxpayers at the Small Business Tax Centres (CIPE) of Parakou, Comè and Lokossa will gradually gain access to the DGI’s e-services platform — a move set to reshape how thousands of small businesses and citizens handle their tax obligations, cutting travel costs and administrative delays.

The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) will open its e-services platform to partner taxpayers registered with the Small Business Tax Centres (CIPE) in Parakou, Comè and Lokossa, with a phased rollout beginning 21 September 2026. For local businesses, the shift promises fewer trips to tax offices and faster access to essential documents.

The measure also enables taxpayers to obtain tax documents online, including payment receipts and tax compliance certificates. To ease the transition, the DGI plans awareness campaigns and training sessions for the affected taxpayers, aiming to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital shift.

The extension targets partner taxpayers under these three CIPEs and broadens access to the dematerialised tax services already offered by the administration. For small business owners, this means less time spent in queues and more time focused on their operations.

Three rollout dates

The calendar sets three key dates: 21 September in Parakou, 28 September in Comè, and 5 October in Lokossa. On each of these dates, the taxpayers concerned will be able to access online services through the DGI’s e-services platform.

Available procedures include declarative obligations and payments, as well as access to certain tax certificates. The administration’s stated goal is to reduce trips to counters and ease the administrative burden associated with these formalities — a change that could significantly lower compliance costs for small enterprises.

This extension is part of the gradual dematerialisation of tax procedures in Benin. For the partner taxpayers involved, the first operational deadline is set for 21 September 2026 in Parakou, followed by Comè a week later and Lokossa on 5 October.
