Eight fatalities and one injury were recorded in a Boko Haram assault that unfolded late Friday in the Far North region of Cameroon, local authorities reported Saturday.
The strike occurred around 11:00 PM in the village of Kangaleri, located in the Mayo-Sava department, casting a shadow of terror over the community. Six individuals were killed immediately, while three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed for medical care. Tragically, two of the wounded later passed away, bringing the provisional death toll to eight. One injured survivor remained under medical supervision as of Saturday, according to local sources.
The attackers, exhibiting their typical modus operandi, struck under the cover of darkness before vanishing into the night. Authorities are still investigating the attack’s specifics and identifying the victims.

In a parallel incident late Friday, another Boko Haram raid was reported in Tourou, a settlement within the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Witnesses stated that the assailants looted livestock and goods before ransacking a market close to Tourou’s town center. No casualties were reported in this second attack at the time of disclosure.
The Far North region of Cameroon continues to face persistent threats from Boko Haram militants and splinter factions, despite ongoing counterinsurgency operations by Cameroonian armed forces and their partners in the Lake Chad Basin Multinational Joint Task Force.
