The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking assessment report. This report, which analyzes the current state of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), will serve as the foundation for Chad’s upcoming digital transformation strategy in the sector. Key stakeholders from across the country gathered to review, refine, and approve the document, ensuring it reflects the realities and priorities of Chad’s educational landscape.
This initiative is part of a broader pan-African movement to modernize TVET systems, supported by major organizations including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. The study engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and related institutions through extensive field missions and digital surveys, covering every academic region in the country. The goal? To create a roadmap that aligns Chad’s vocational training with the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
Dr Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the workshop on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a strategic necessity to equip learners with the skills required for emerging careers. The report, he noted, highlights both progress and significant gaps—particularly in digital governance, infrastructure, connectivity, power supply, and teacher training. Addressing these challenges, he urged participants to collaborate in shaping a strategy that is both practical and inclusive, tailored to Chad’s unique context.
The validated report will now guide the development of Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, complete with a detailed action plan for 2026–2030. The vision? To build a modern, efficient vocational training system that meets the needs of both learners and employers, fostering economic growth and opportunity across the nation.
