The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to validate field analysis findings as a precursor to crafting the National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EFTP). The gathering brought together key sector stakeholders to review, refine, and endorse a foundational document that will underpin the future digitalization policy for Chad’s technical and vocational training landscape.
Panafrican momentum: a collaborative push for modernized vocational training
Aligned with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by entities including UNESCO, OIF, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the UN Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program, this initiative aims to sustainably modernize Chad’s technical and vocational education. The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Education and Training Centers (CFTP) and support structures, incorporating comprehensive field missions and digital data collection across all national academies.
Strategic imperatives: digitalization as a cornerstone for future-ready education
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation has become a strategic imperative to align training systems with technological advancements and evolving career demands. The Government is positioning digitalization as a primary catalyst for modernizing Chad’s EFTP sector.
Dr. Gabriel highlighted the analysis report’s dual narrative: significant progress alongside critical challenges. Key areas of concern include governance frameworks, digital infrastructure gaps, connectivity limitations, energy supply constraints, trainer upskilling, and the integration of digital competencies into curricula. He urged participants to collaboratively enrich the document to ensure the final strategy is pragmatic, inclusive, and responsive to Chad’s unique national context.
Roadmap to 2030: building a competitive, market-aligned vocational ecosystem
Following the workshop’s conclusion, the validated report will serve as the blueprint for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for EFTP and its corresponding operational action plan spanning 2026 to 2030. The overarching vision is to equip Chad with a modern, high-performing technical and vocational training system that meets the dynamic demands of the labor market.
