On Thursday, high-level discussions in Ouagadougou laid the groundwork for a robust joint response to terrorism, marking a significant step in regional stability efforts.
A high-powered delegation from Chad’s Ministry of Public Security and Immigration, led by Commissioner Mahamat Ibrahim Man Man, engaged in strategic talks with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, the day prior. The meeting focused on concrete measures to enhance counterterrorism collaboration, with both sides emphasizing the need for coordinated action against shared threats.
Building on shared history for a stronger defense partnership
According to a statement from Chad’s Ministry of Public Security, the discussions highlighted the potential of leveraging historical ties and operational experiences to develop a tailored security framework. Mbaï-Naïssem Isaac Chamir, Legal Advisor to Chad’s Security Minister and a key delegate, underscored the importance of this initiative, stating:
« This meeting serves as a preparatory platform ahead of a joint ministerial commission between Burkina Faso and Chad, dedicated to combating our common enemy: terrorism. »
