The Chadian government is doubling down on its battle against human trafficking, with a sharp focus on protecting women and children. Authorities have issued a circular to security and judicial leaders, underscoring the urgency of enforcement and outlining precise steps to curb this crime.

Human trafficking remains a severe human rights violation, frequently linked to sexual exploitation and forced labor. Chad, a signatory to the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, has enacted critical legislation to address the issue, including Ordinance Nº006/PR/2018 and Law Nº12/PR/2018.

Under the new directives, law enforcement must act swiftly: investigations must be expedited, detailed reports compiled, and cases must be transferred without delay to the appropriate courts. Each case is also required to be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission Against Human Trafficking for thorough monitoring.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with ensuring these guidelines are strictly followed. The initiative aims to establish a comprehensive national database, laying the groundwork for a robust anti-trafficking strategy in Chad.
