High security at the Supreme Court for the Succès Masra appeal

The Supreme Court in N’Djamena is currently under a heavy security lockdown. A significant deployment of security forces, including the National Guard, police, and gendarmerie, has established a tight perimeter around the judicial building.

Entry into the premises is being closely monitored and restricted. Numerous members of the press, including reporters and camera crews, were denied entry to the courtroom, limiting transparency during the proceedings.

Restricted access to the judicial proceedings

The public hearing is taking place within a confined space inside the Supreme Court, isolated from the general public. This session pits the president of the court against a legal team of about ten lawyers representing Dr. Succès Masra, the leader of the Les Transformateurs party.

This specific session focuses on the cassation appeal filed by the defense. It challenges the ruling made by the criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal on August 9, 2025, which sentenced Dr. Succès Masra to 20 years in prison.
