During an official visit to Mauritania, a high-powered Moroccan military delegation led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, engaged in key discussions with Mauritanian authorities. On Tuesday in Nouakchott, General Berrid was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani, with Moroccan Ambassador to Mauritania Hamid Chabar also in attendance, as confirmed by an official statement from the Moroccan General Staff.
The visit continued with a meeting at the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where General Berrid held talks with Mauritanian Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a symbolic gesture, the Minister presented General Berrid with the National Order of Merit (Commander grade) on behalf of the Mauritanian President.
Later that day, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Defense jointly chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Both sides highlighted the outstanding progress in bilateral military cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania, describing it as a model of strategic partnership based on tangible achievements and mutual trust.
