The coach also highlighted the challenges posed by recent squad adjustments, with new arrivals like Malick Fofana, Ernest Nuamah, and Loïs Openda integrating later than others. «Their late arrivals mean we’re still adapting, especially with several young forwards who need time to reach their full potential,» Fonseca explained.
Key absences and their impact
Fonseca confirmed the unavailability of Pavel Šulc and Mads Bidstrup due to injuries. Šulc is sidelined with a knee inflammation, while Bidstrup faces a cartilage issue, though hopes remain for a swift return. «Šulc arrived later after participating in the World Cup and was eager to play, but it’s not possible right now. We know he had an outstanding season and is attracting interest from other clubs, but for now, he remains part of our project,» the coach noted.
Sparta Prague’s trump card: Adam Karabec
Fonseca also drew attention to Sparta Prague’s standout performer, Adam Karabec, who is fully settled in his role as an attacking midfielder. «Karabec is in top form, highly motivated, and knows our strategies well—especially from set-pieces. We’ll need to be cautious,» Fonseca warned.
