PSG face competition from Manchester United for Mateus Fernandes transfer

After securing their second consecutive Champions League title, PSG are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window. The Parisian club aims to rejuvenate Luis Enrique’s squad and has been pursuing several targets, including 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes. However, a Premier League heavyweight has emerged as the frontrunner for his signature.

PSG, winners of back-to-back Champions League crowns, are planning significant squad changes this summer. They have activated multiple leads on the transfer market, with Mateus Fernandes being a name linked in recent weeks. The Portugal international, who was not called up for the 2026 World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham. Yet the Parisian side is not in an ideal position to land the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

Manchester United are currently in pole position to secure Mateus Fernandes. The West Ham player reportedly has a clear preference for joining the Red Devils despite interest from Tottenham and other clubs this window. PSG appear to be losing ground to the Premier League giant in this transfer saga.

PSG making progress on other targets

Meanwhile, PSG continue to advance on other fronts. The club is said to be in a favourable position for the transfers of Yan Diomandé and Maghnes Akliouche. The Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig and the AS Monaco attacking midfielder are both keen on joining the double European champions this summer. Combined, these two deals could cost around €200 million. More to follow…
