Rabat hosts key arab postal leaders forum to boost digital logistics
This two-day event brings together top postal officials to shape the future of logistics in the Arab world amid surging e-commerce demand.

The forum provides a platform for industry leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities in modernizing postal services across the Arab world. Key topics include digital transformation, artificial intelligence integration, and cross-border e-commerce logistics.
Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour emphasized the importance of developing smarter infrastructure and innovative digital services to keep pace with global trade evolution. “Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, prioritizes postal sector modernization and digital transition,” he stated.
Barid Al-Maghrib Director General Amin Benjelloun Touimi highlighted the need for stronger coordination between postal institutions and partnerships with transport, technology, and e-commerce sectors. “The future of Arab postal services depends on innovation and public-private collaboration,” he noted.
UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki stressed that e-commerce and digital technologies are reshaping global trade. “The future of postal services depends on digital interoperability and partnerships,” he said, reaffirming UPU’s commitment to supporting Arab postal transformation.
A special joint stamp issue between Morocco and Mauritania was unveiled during the opening ceremony, attended by Mauripost Director General Alioune Ould Issa.
This forum aligns with Morocco’s vision of digital transformation and economic integration as key development drivers. It follows previous editions in Oman (2024) and Qatar (2025), demonstrating the region’s commitment to strengthening postal and logistics cooperation.
Participants will address strategic priorities including:
- Modernizing postal networks and logistics chains
- Integrating AI, big data, and advanced technologies
- Supporting cross-border e-commerce
- Enhancing last-mile delivery solutions
- Facilitating SME access to regional and international markets
The forum will conclude with actionable recommendations and a 2026-2027 cooperation roadmap to strengthen Arab postal sector competitiveness and resilience in the digital economy.
Attendees include directors-general of 14 Arab postal operators, UPU representatives, Arab League officials, and national and international postal regulators.
