Regional leaders convene in N’Djamena to optimize trans-cameroonian corridor trade

N’Djamena, the capital city of Chad, has been the focal point since Monday, May 11, 2026, for the fifth iteration of a crucial tripartite forum. This gathering brings together key stakeholders from Chad, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic (CAR) to deliberate on pressing issues concerning transit and sub-regional trade.

The formal inauguration of the proceedings saw the distinguished presence of Major General Ousman Brahim Djouma, the Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes for Chad. He was joined by a delegation of high-ranking customs officials, port authorities, and influential economic operators representing all three participating nations, underscoring the collective commitment to fostering regional economic growth.

Presiding over the opening ceremony was Fatimé Goukouni Weddeye, the Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology, highlighting the significant governmental support for this initiative.

Throughout this important meeting, participants are dedicated to thoroughly assessing the various obstacles that currently impede the seamless flow of goods along the vital Trans-Cameroonian Corridor. The overarching goal is to achieve a shared vision for refining transit procedures, strengthening existing customs cooperation, and ultimately invigorating commercial exchanges across the entire sub-region, thereby boosting economic development and connectivity.
