The Senegalese National Assembly has released a detailed agenda for its upcoming extraordinary session, convened by President Ousmane Sonko, set to commence on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
Key legislative proposals on the agenda
Lawmakers from the 15th Legislature will examine five critical legislative proposals during this session, as outlined in Bureau Order No. 192. These include:
- Labor Code reform (Bill No. 15/2026) aimed at modernizing employment regulations
- Social Security Code update (Bill No. 16/2026) to enhance social protection frameworks
- Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Act (Bill No. 25/2026) focusing on digital security and cyber resilience
- Constitutional amendment (Bill No. 33/2026) targeting Article 37 modifications
- Special credits legal framework (Bill No. 34/2026) regulating emergency funding mechanisms
Six parliamentary inquiry commissions to be established
The extraordinary session will also ratify six new parliamentary inquiry commissions addressing pressing national concerns:
- Irregularities in public land management and maritime domain allocations
- Questionable state property sales to private individuals
- Government use of TRS-type financial mechanisms
- Financial discrepancies in the ‘One Student, One Laptop’ program (2017-present, 48 billion CFA francs)
- Tax revenue leakage and exemption management practices
- Fishing license issuance and renewal procedures
According to Article 3 of the Bureau Order, the session will conclude immediately upon completion of this agenda, with no possibility of modifications once proceedings begin, in strict adherence to parliamentary regulations.
