Tchad: ISJCT and AMJET forge strategic partnership to uplift media training

N’Djamena, August 6, 2026 – A landmark partnership between the Institut Supérieur du Journalisme et de la Communication du Tchad (ISJCT) and the Association des Médias en Ligne du Tchad (AMJET) was sealed in N’Djamena today. This alliance is set to bridge the gap between academic training and industry practices, fostering the growth of a robust and professional media landscape in Chad.

The agreement outlines a multi-faceted approach to elevate media standards. ISJCT students will gain hands-on experience through internships within AMJET-affiliated media outlets, easing their transition into the workforce. Additionally, the partnership will amplify the visibility of the institute’s programs across the association’s extensive network.

Continuous learning stands at the heart of this collaboration. A tailored program will be rolled out to enhance the skills of journalists, editors, newsroom managers, and media executives. Key training areas include modern journalistic practices, digital journalism, fact-checking, newsroom management, media business models, artificial intelligence applications, ethical journalism, journalist safety, and other pressing challenges in the field.

Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, representing the ISJCT project, emphasized the importance of collaboration: “No journalism school can thrive in isolation. Media professionals are our partners in education, our training grounds, and the future employers of our graduates.”

Bello Bakary Mana, President of AMJET, hailed the initiative as a game-changer. “This partnership allows media enterprises to actively shape the future of journalism by nurturing talent while providing professionals with avenues to refine their expertise. With the ISJCT, the path to excellence is within reach,” he stated.

The ISJCT project, spearheaded by the MEDEV NGO, has received backing from the Swiss Cooperation, GIZ, and DW Akademie. The institute is poised to welcome its first cohort of students in October 2026, aspiring to become a leading hub for initial training, research, innovation, and professional development in journalism, communication, and media management.

The ISJCT was conceived by MEDEV to establish a specialized higher education institution in Chad, dedicated to training the next generation of journalists, communication experts, and media managers.
