UN Security Council denounces violent jihadist strikes across Mali

The UN Security Council has issued a stern condemnation regarding the “heinous terrorist” offensives launched by Al-Qaeda-linked militants in Mali since April 25. In a formal statement, the council emphasized the urgent need to hold the perpetrators, organizers, and financiers of these violent acts accountable before the law.

Mali is currently grappling with a period of deep instability following a series of unprecedented strikes against the strategic strongholds of the transitional government, which has been in power since 2020. These coordinated assaults, occurring on April 25 and 26, targeted key urban centers and resulted in the tragic death of the Minister of Defense.

The international body remains focused on ensuring that those behind these destabilizing maneuvers are brought to justice, as the nation faces significant security challenges in the wake of these targeted operations against strategic positions.
