The United States and Benin are solidifying their strategic defense partnership. General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently held discussions at the Pentagon with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.

A primary focus of their dialogue centered on joint security initiatives and the military assistance Washington provides, particularly through the US Africa Command (Africom).

Both high-ranking officials underscored the pivotal role a stable, secure, and democratic Benin plays in fostering overall regional peace. They committed to enhancing their military cooperation and collaborating with regional partners to effectively counter transnational threats, thereby ensuring enduring stability for the long term.
