
The solemn opening session of the General Assembly took place on July 9, drawing a distinguished gathering in Yaoundé. Among the prominent figures present were the President of the Cameroonian Senate, the President of the Cameroonian National Assembly, and the President of the Cameroonian Economic and Social Council. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), also attended, alongside numerous other esteemed guests and over 350 delegates. This extensive attendance included nearly twenty presidents and vice-presidents from parliaments that are members of the Assemblée Parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF), representatives from the OIF, various diplomatic missions, and international organizations.
The 51st APF General Assembly’s agenda is meticulously crafted to address critical issues spanning politics, democracy, economic development, social affairs, cultural exchange, and environmental protection. The overarching goal is to foster stronger parliamentary collaboration and to devise effective solutions for the shared challenges confronting the diverse Francophone community.
