World Vision Tchad’s 2030 Roadmap: A New Dawn for Children in Crisis

World Vision Tchad has unveiled its groundbreaking five-year strategic plan (2026-2030) designed to uplift the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. This integrated initiative merges emergency relief, sustainable development and peacebuilding to address the most pressing challenges faced by Tchad’s youngest citizens.

A Holistic Approach to Transformative Change

During the official launch event in N’Djamena, World Vision Tchad brought together media representatives, technical partners, financial backers and national authorities to unveil their ambitious vision. The strategy targets 3.29 million children by 2030, with 3.09 million coming from the most vulnerable backgrounds. The plan focuses on five critical pillars: health, nutrition, education, child protection and climate resilience.

Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa (based in Dakar), described the strategy as “bold and innovative,” emphasizing its foundation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This approach seamlessly bridges emergency interventions with long-term development and peacebuilding efforts. “Every child in Tchad deserves a life of abundance,” she stated, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships, community engagement and cultural integration in achieving this vision.

Aligning with Continental and Global Goals

The strategy doesn’t operate in isolation. It’s carefully designed to align with Tchad’s Vision 2030, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16). Key focus areas include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation and education enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch “historic,” noting that this strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles. “Our goal is simple yet profound: ensure not just survival, but full flourishing for every child in Tchad,” he declared during the presentation.

Addressing Tchad’s Deep-Rooted Challenges

Tchad faces persistent struggles with poverty, malnutrition and climate-induced crises. Official data reveals that 42% of the population lives below the poverty line, underscoring the urgent need for intensified support to vulnerable groups. The new strategy responds directly to these realities by prioritizing:

• Integrated nutrition and health programs, with special emphasis on maternal and child health
• Education transformation through the Unlock Literacy initiative, focusing on foundational reading skills
• Child protection systems to shield children from all forms of violence
• Community resilience building to withstand climate change impacts

A Call for Collective Action

As the presentation concluded, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a powerful call to action. They urged public authorities, technical partners, financial supporters, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to join forces in implementing this strategy. “Transforming current challenges into sustainable opportunities requires nothing less than collective mobilization,” they emphasized.

The ambitious plan aims to contribute significantly to Tchad’s Vision 2030 and global SDG targets, envisioning a future where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated and empowered to reach their full potential.
