Akere Muna applauds Pope Leo XIV’s appointment of Andrew Nkea Fuanya

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya as a member of the Section for the First Evangelization and New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelization. The nomination has drawn praise from Akere Muna, a prominent Cameroonian civil society figure and lawyer.

Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been elevated by Pope Leo XIV to serve in this key Vatican role. He will assist the Holy See in nurturing young churches and guiding global missionary efforts. The prelate, who has been Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda since 2019 and president of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon since April 2022, is recognised for his active role in peace dialogues in crisis-hit regions.

Akere Muna described the appointment as a deep recognition of Nkea’s pastoral wisdom, tireless service, and unwavering dedication to the Church. He called it a powerful testament to the light the archbishop continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church. “I am convinced that in this new mission, he will continue to serve with the same courage, clarity, and paternal compassion that have marked his ministry over the years,” Muna said.
