Barcelona secures major transfer deal for anthony gordon
Anthony Gordon is expected to sign his contract with FC Barcelona this Friday.

FC Barcelona is swiftly moving to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski’s departure. The Catalan giants have reportedly targeted Anthony Gordon, with an official announcement from both clubs expected soon. Gordon, a versatile winger from Newcastle, is also adept at playing centrally.
An 80 million euro transfer
FC Barcelona wasted no time after securing their league title, immediately identifying Robert Lewandowski’s successor.
This week, reports indicated that the Catalan management reached an agreement with Newcastle, the Magpies, for a substantial transfer fee of €80 million, plus additional bonuses.
This significant development was corroborated by a leading transfer expert.
Furthermore, Barcelona has reportedly secured an agreement on personal terms with the 25-year-old English talent. Gordon has been a long-term target, with his acquisition championed by Blaugrana coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco, both ardent admirers of the player. Gordon, who began his football journey at Liverpool before making his name at Everton and eventually shining at St James’ Park, arrived in Barcelona on Thursday with his agents and family to undergo his medical examination, which he successfully completed.
He concludes a remarkable season with Newcastle, boasting an impressive record of 17 goals and 5 assists across 46 appearances in all competitions, including 10 goals in just 12 Champions League matches.
A different profile from Lewandowski
This past season, Lamine Yamal emerged as the Blaugrana’s top scorer, with Ferran Torres also playing a crucial role in Hansi Flick’s successful campaign.
While 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski still managed a significant 19 goals in 46 matches, Anthony Gordon brings a different, versatile profile. He can operate centrally but prefers the left flank, cutting inside onto his dominant foot.
Barcelona seeks a player on the left who can provide pace, penetrating runs, and high-intensity pressing.
The pursuit of Marcus Rashford presents a more intricate situation. Until June 15th, the Blaugrana hold a €30 million buy-out clause for him, a lower figure than Gordon’s transfer fee. However, his salary demands pose a challenge for Joan Laporta’s financial strategy.
This doesn’t rule out the Manchester United winger potentially playing in Spain next season.
Two possibilities are currently being considered: a renegotiated loan agreement or a permanent transfer offer with a reduced salary package. Beyond these two English talents, Barcelona is also reportedly monitoring Julian Alvarez. These potential reinforcements aim to solidify their dominance in La Liga, following their second consecutive league title this season.
