As part of ongoing efforts to modernize the national road network, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, conducted an extensive inspection tour last Tuesday. His visit encompassed three vital construction sites across Bénin, emphasizing technical excellence, environmental protection, public health considerations, and strict adherence to contractual timelines.
The ministerial delegation’s initial stop was at the Djonou bridge, situated within the Abomey-Calavi commune. Here, the comprehensive dredging operations have reached full completion. This crucial intervention has successfully cleared the waterway, significantly improving the evacuation of rainwater and bolstering the structural integrity and safety of the bridge itself.
Minister Alé then proceeded to the site of the 2×2 lane development on the Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2) stretch, a project undertaken by the SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP consortium. While commending the commendable progress and positive momentum of the work, Georges Alé underscored the imperative of meticulously following the agreed-upon schedule. His objective is to swiftly provide commuters with a modern and secure thoroughfare.
The inspection concluded at the Allada roundabout and the associated retention basins established in the vicinity. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the minister directed the technical teams to foster close collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This proactive measure aims to anticipate and mitigate any potential health risks stemming from stagnant water accumulation.
Concluding his comprehensive tour, Georges Alé reiterated the government’s overarching vision: « We are constructing for future generations. This inherently demands prioritizing safety, public health, and uncompromising quality in every single component we lay. »
