From July 6 to 10, 2026, a delegation of officials from Benin’s Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome (CENA) participated in a specialized training program in New Delhi, India. The initiative focused on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into electoral processes to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Strengthening electoral integrity through AI innovation
The five-day workshop, organized by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, brought together election administrators from multiple countries. The training covered critical areas such as AI-driven electoral administration, digital governance, ethical considerations, human rights protection, cybersecurity, risk management, and the legal frameworks governing AI deployment in elections.
A hands-on learning experience
The program featured a mix of lectures, case studies, live demonstrations, interactive workshops, and peer exchanges. Participants engaged with leading experts and representatives from electoral bodies worldwide, gaining practical insights into applying AI solutions to real-world electoral challenges.
