The Côte d’Ivoire has strengthened its global diplomatic footprint by actively engaging in the second session of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Through this strategic participation, the country reaffirms its commitment to a migration governance model rooted in cooperation, human dignity, and sustainable development.
The forum, centered on monitoring the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (adopted in 2018 in Marrakech), brings together nations to address the complexities of global human mobility.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Souleymane Diarrassouba, Dr. Hinin Moustapha — Director-General of the National Population Office (ONP) — represented Côte d’Ivoire in high-level discussions focused on sharing best practices and state commitments under the Global Compact.

To achieve this, Côte d’Ivoire launched a comprehensive 2025 national migration survey, designed to refine data collection and analysis. The initiative aims to produce reliable, disaggregated, and up-to-date migration statistics, empowering policymakers to craft evidence-based governance strategies. This bold step positions Côte d’Ivoire as a leader in migration data governance across Africa.
