Dja bridge project accelerates as key supports near completion

As of 20 June 2026, the most significant progress on the project is the near-completion of the bridge supports. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are working tirelessly to finalise the structure.

Alongside this milestone, supplementary geotechnical studies are underway, and execution studies have reached 60% completion. All 20 piles have been finished, and work has begun on the access road on the Bissombo side. This includes reinforcing the walls of the culvert at PK 0+669, laying replacement material after clearing at PK 0+818, and crushing 0/250 aggregates.

The project involves constructing a 90-metre bridge and 3 kilometres of access roads. Its completion will help structure the Assok–Ngombo axis in the Dja-et-Lobo department, South region. The total cost is estimated at 10,530,686,344 FCFA (tax inclusive) for the Dja bridge.

In addition to the bridge, the access roads will cover 1,000 metres (500 metres on each side), with a two-lane carriageway 7 metres wide and 1.5-metre shoulders surfaced with a double bituminous seal. The project also includes drainage works: two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 1.50, two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 2.00, and the construction of access dykes along the riverbanks.
