The newly appointed head of the Clarification and Restoration Commission established by Maurice Kamto spoke on the programme ‘Entretien avec’ on STV.
Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed the resignation of Maurice Kamto from his party, which allowed him to join Manidem and become its candidate for the 2026 presidential election. That candidacy, however, was ultimately rejected.
According to Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, ‘President Maurice Kamto’s resignation from the party was not a resignation in the sense of turning his back on the party. We sent him on a mission. Now, after what happened, he has returned. We asked him to come back and finish his term.’
This member of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC) insists that the elimination of Maurice Kamto was a genuine trial for party members.
Binyam added, ‘The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy deeply affected us. We were profoundly impacted by the elimination of our candidate from this election, especially since all polls indicated he would win decisively, both nationally and internationally.’
