Endeavour mining’s substantial economic and social impact in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, June 30, 2026 – Endeavour Mining, a prominent mining company, announced a significant financial injection of 1,710 billion FCFA into the Ivorian economy between 2021 and 2025. Of this substantial amount, 644 billion FCFA was directly remitted to the State through taxes, royalties, and dividends, as detailed in its inaugural Country Impact Report dedicated to Côte d’Ivoire.

Titled « Créer de la valeur tangible » (Creating Tangible Value), the comprehensive report was unveiled on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Endeavour Mining’s headquarters in Cocody. It meticulously outlines the achievements of the company’s Ity and Lafigué mines, specifically highlighting their contributions to economic growth, community development, and environmental stewardship across the nation.

During the report’s presentation, Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara, Vice-President of Public Affairs and Endeavour’s Country Director for Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized that the Ity and Lafigué operations have transformed gold into a genuine catalyst for sustainable development over the past five years. She reiterated the group’s steadfast commitment to fostering a partnership built on trust, transparency, and mutual progress.

Breaking down the 644 billion FCFA channeled to the State, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara specified that 398 billion originated from taxes, 149 billion from royalties, and 97 billion from dividends. Furthermore, the company reported allocating 904 billion FCFA towards procurement from national suppliers, bolstering local businesses.

Endeavour Mining stands as a vital economic force, employing over 1,350 individuals, with 94% being Ivorian nationals. Its extensive network also engages 4,390 service providers and more than 600 local suppliers, cementing its position as a leading contributor to the country’s public revenues and Côte d’Ivoire’s foremost gold producer.

In the realm of public health, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara highlighted that the company and its foundation have facilitated prevention, screening, and healthcare access initiatives benefiting over 120,000 people. Notably, the Health Caravans provided free consultations and treatments to nearly 4,000 individuals, while 64 patients received complimentary cataract surgeries.

Dr. Youssouf Koné, the departmental health director of Zouan-Hounien, affirmed that Endeavour’s partnership provides crucial support in the ongoing fight against malaria, significantly benefiting communities residing near the Ity mine.

Regarding education, Endeavour’s programs reached over 4,000 children and young people between 2021 and 2025, alongside providing practical internships for 842 students. Key human capital development initiatives include « Élites de Demain » (Leaders of Tomorrow), « Jeunes Filles en Scolarité » (Girls in School), and « Pépites d’Or » (Gold Nuggets).

The report also detailed an investment exceeding 2.8 billion FCFA in vital community infrastructure. These funds supported 71 projects focused on potable water access and security, the rehabilitation of 16 roads benefiting over 360,000 people, the implementation of 10 rural electrification projects, and the issuance of 1,000 driving licenses to boost youth professional integration.

Economically, over 3,000 individuals benefited from 284 income-generating initiatives, backed by 487 million FCFA in funding, with a particular focus on empowering women and youth. The « N’Goto Yetehe » program, for instance, provided vocational training to 63 young people across eight different trades in Lafigué.

On the environmental front, Endeavour reported planting over 158,000 trees and protecting or restoring 199 hectares of land between 2021 and 2025. Notable actions include the « Un enfant, un arbre » (One Child, One Tree) program conducted with schools, and the restoration of 125 hectares of classified forests in partnership with SODEFOR. The company’s « Vers Zéro Plastique » (Towards Zero Plastic) strategy achieved a remarkable 99% reduction in single-use plastic bottles, eliminating over 1.3 million bottles within three years.

The Côte d’Ivoire Impact Report 2021-2025 was presented to the host communities of the Ity and Lafigué mines, with attendance from administrative authorities, local government officials, traditional leaders, and representatives from youth, women’s groups, and mining project steering committees.
