Côte d’Ivoire sets 250 F/Kg price for shea almonds
The Ivorian government has officially set a fixed price of 250 F/Kg for raw shea almonds, a move aimed at stabilizing the local market and supporting rural producers. This decision comes as part of broader efforts to enhance the economic value of shea butter, a key export commodity in Côte d’Ivoire.
The fixed pricing mechanism ensures fair compensation for farmers while maintaining competitiveness in the global market. Shea almonds are a vital raw material for the cosmetics and food industries, with Côte d’Ivoire being one of the world’s leading producers.
Local cooperatives and exporters have welcomed the announcement, citing improved predictability in pricing as a critical factor for long-term business planning. The government’s intervention also aims to curb speculative practices that have previously disrupted the market.
Industry stakeholders highlight that the fixed price aligns with international demand trends, particularly from European and Asian buyers who rely on Ivorian shea for their supply chains. This measure is expected to reinforce Côte d’Ivoire’s position as a reliable supplier in the shea trade.
