Gabon Unveils Kimba Connect 2026, A National Open Innovation Challenge

Kimba Connect 2026, a national open innovation challenge, was launched in Libreville, Gabon, on July 12, 2022. The initiative aims to foster collaboration between local businesses and startups to address transformation challenges.

The program’s principle is based on an open call for challenges, which will be responded by startups with innovative projects. The best proposals will benefit from support to develop and implement their solutions.

The deadline for submitting applications is July 14, 2022, with a selection phase set for July 24, 2022, and a grand finale planned for August 4, 2026.

Mark Alexandre Doumba, Gabon’s Minister of Economic Digitalization, stated that ‘innovation has value only if it addresses real needs.’ He noted that Kimba Connect 2026 will transform business challenges into opportunities for growth and provide startups with better market access and increased visibility.

The organizers aim to promote open innovation, strengthen ties between businesses and young entrepreneurs, accelerate the country’s digital transformation, highlight local talent, and improve the competitiveness of the private sector.

This initiative aligns with the Gabonese government’s strategy to accelerate its digital transformation and encourage local innovation. The program will create a collaboration framework between the private sector and startups to develop solutions designed in Gabon.

By fostering these synergies, authorities hope to enhance business competitiveness, support innovative entrepreneurship, and contribute to the country’s economic diversification.
