The announcement follows an international conference held in Jeddah on May 20, 2026, where Saudi authorities outlined essential measures to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Led by the Director-General of ORGEP, General Idriss Dokony Adiker, the Chadian delegation actively participated in shaping these guidelines, which were later communicated to the public through a formal notice.
Mandatory safety and discipline rules for Chadian pilgrims
The ORGEP’s advisory outlines strict prohibitions and recommendations to protect pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia. Key measures include:
- Prohibition of political or partisan religious discussions in hotels, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, with any gatherings of such nature strictly banned.
- No unauthorized accommodations—pilgrims are forbidden from hosting or allowing unregistered individuals in their lodgings or at ritual sites.
- Avoid outdoor activities between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to mitigate heat-related health risks, as Saudi Arabia experiences extreme temperatures during this period.
- Restrictions on physically demanding rituals—elderly, ill, or mobility-challenged pilgrims are permitted to delegate the stoning of the pillars (Djamarat) to a designated representative.
Emergency protocols and support
In case of health emergencies, accidents, or logistical challenges, pilgrims are instructed to contact the dedicated emergency hotline 1966, set up by Saudi authorities to provide immediate assistance.
