Mali army claims heavy losses against armed groups in the north

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) reported on Thursday that coordinated military operations in the northern regions of Anfif and Tabrachat resulted in the elimination of approximately one hundred armed fighters. These operations were conducted in partnership with allied forces, targeting members of the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azavad Liberation Front (FLA).

The army’s statement highlighted the success of the mission, noting the execution of 13 airstrikes that destroyed six combat vehicles and a pickup truck. The operations, carried out on Tuesday, are part of a broader military campaign against armed groups across Mali. The FAMA emphasized their commitment to maintaining discipline and rigor in these efforts, continuing to collaborate closely with their partners.

The Russian Africa Corps also released a statement on X, confirming the destruction and burning of a significant number of militants’ vehicles. Additionally, their drone successfully targeted another vehicle transporting munitions and military equipment. The Corps described the joint operations as highly effective, reaffirming their intention to persist in striking militant positions and assets.
