Spanning over 5,200 square meters, the Mohammed VI Vocational Training Centre in Bamako stands as a cornerstone for Mali’s economic and social progress. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment by offering specialized training programs tailored to the nation’s evolving job market needs.

Mamary Diarra, Mali’s National Director of Tourism, highlights the significance of this partnership: “The collaboration between Mali and Morocco reflects a deep bond of friendship and shared vision. His Majesty Mohammed VI’s generous contribution exemplifies the strength of this alliance,” he notes. “This centre will empower young Malians with world-class skills right here in Bamako.”
The facility boasts modern classrooms, model restaurants, and demonstration hotels, positioning itself as a vital asset for the Malian government. These resources provide hands-on learning experiences that mirror real-world industry standards, ensuring graduates are job-ready upon completion.
A gateway to 21 high-demand careers
With an annual capacity of 1,000 trainees, the centre offers 21 specialized programs divided into 12 construction-focused tracks and 9 in tourism, hospitality, and culinary arts. This diverse curriculum aligns with Mali’s economic priorities, particularly in sectors driving growth and innovation.
Saving costs, creating opportunities
Mamadou Minkoro Traoré, President of the Permanent Assembly of Mali’s Chambers of Crafts, underscores the centre’s impact: “Previously, Malian students had to travel abroad—often to Morocco—for quality training, incurring hefty travel and accommodation expenses. Now, they can acquire top-tier skills locally without the financial burden.”
Traoré, a fashion designer trained in Morocco, adds: “This centre arrives at a critical moment. It will equip our youth with marketable skills, reduce unemployment, and foster self-reliance. I commend both governments for this transformative initiative.”
Strategic investment in Mali’s future
Oumou Sall Seck, Mali’s Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training, emphasized the project’s strategic value during its handover in July: “This centre addresses a vital need—developing human capital in key sectors that underpin our economic and social development.”
