Mali’s security forces gain significant logistical edge

The Malian Ministry of Security and Civil Protection has considerably bolstered the operational effectiveness of the nation’s Security Forces. In a ceremony held on Friday, July 31, 2026, the ministry officially handed over twenty new vehicles and pieces of equipment, a significant investment entirely funded through the national budget.

A comprehensive fleet for enhanced security

Presiding over the event was Major General Daoud Aly Mohammedine. The diverse fleet of vehicles distributed included six spacious 60-seater buses, a crucial recovery vehicle, two large 20,000-liter Spiros trucks, eight 4,000-liter fire tanker trucks, and three substantial 50,000-liter fire pump trucks. This strategic allocation aims to address various operational needs across different security branches.

The new assets were distributed among key institutions: the National Police, Civil Protection, National Gendarmerie, National Guard, and the Staff School of Security Forces. Each entity received specialized vehicles tailored to their respective missions, ensuring a more robust and responsive security apparatus for Mali.

Major General Mohammedine emphasized that these acquisitions directly reflect the unwavering commitment of the Transition President, General Assimi, to strengthen the operational capacities of Mali’s Armed and Security Forces. This initiative is pivotal in fostering a secure environment that aligns with the aspirations of the Malian populace. He underscored the critical role of modern, well-maintained logistics in improving the mobility and rapid response capabilities essential for confronting contemporary threats effectively.

Brigadier General Boucary Kodio, Director General of Civil Protection, speaking on behalf of the recipient organizations, affirmed their collective dedication to maintaining and utilizing these new resources with the utmost diligence and responsibility. The ceremony concluded with an impressive live demonstration of the fire tanker trucks, showcasing their readiness and efficiency in handling emergency situations, a clear signal of the enhanced capabilities now at the disposal of Mali’s security forces.
