FC Nantes handed closed-door match following pitch invasion against Toulouse

Nantes will have to play a closed-door match

The French Football League’s disciplinary board has imposed a closed-door match at the Stade de la Beaujoire for FC Nantes, coupled with a two-game ban for the Loire stand, following the pitch invasion during the final Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse.

FC Nantes has avoided point deductions to begin their Ligue 2 campaign. The French Football League’s disciplinary board handed down a firm closed-door match at the Stade de la Beaujoire, along with a two-match ban for the Loire stand. The board also confirmed the 0-0 score at the time of the definitive interruption of the match against Toulouse (17 May).

Before the final whistle in the 34th and last matchday fixture, Nantes supporters stormed the pitch and sparked disturbances to protest the club’s relegation to Ligue 2. The referee halted the game.
