Niger: inauguration of the ‘Solidarity’ power plant in Gorou Banda

The Prime Minister of Algeria, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, arrived in the Gorou Banda district of Niamey, the capital of the Republic of Niger, this Wednesday to officially inaugurate the Solidarity power generation plant and mark its operational launch.

This milestone event is part of a high-level Algerian delegation’s visit to Niger, following instructions from the Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister included Mr. Mourad Adjal, Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, as well as Mr. Abed Halouz, Director General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation in Solidarity and Development.

Boosting Niger’s energy infrastructure

The Solidarity power plant represents a significant step forward in strengthening energy infrastructure in the Sahel region. Its launch is expected to enhance electricity supply stability in Niamey and surrounding areas, supporting economic and social development.

Representatives from both Algeria and Niger highlighted the importance of this project in fostering regional cooperation and addressing energy challenges.
