PASTEF leader Ousmane Sonko issued a stern warning to his supporters during a gathering in Bambey on Saturday. He cautioned that his movement may face deliberate attempts to provoke reactions, including targeted actions against his own person.
Speaking to the crowd, Sonko revealed that some actors are plotting to destabilize PASTEF by exploiting state institutions. “They will resort to all kinds of provocations, some aimed directly at me,” he declared. “They may try to weaponize government services against me.”
The opposition figure emphasized that these maneuvers are designed to trigger unrest among his followers and disrupt national stability. “Their calculations are clear: if they want to shake PASTEF or the nation, they must first target me,” he asserted.
Sonko also highlighted what he described as unfair restrictions on party activities, particularly membership card distribution events. Despite these challenges, he vowed to maintain peace in the country. “The Senegal will not relapse into past turmoil as long as I am here,” he affirmed. “Manipulations will not succeed.”
His remarks come amid shifting political dynamics following the formation of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s new party and ongoing discussions about the future of Senegal’s political landscape.
